The North Carolina Cooperative Extension Service, a part of North Carolina State University and NC A&T State University, provides research-based information to the citizens of Yancey County, from children to senior citizens. The Cooperative Extension office in Yancey County provides leadership for the areas of 4-H Youth Development, Family and Consumer Sciences, Agriculture, and Community Development.
The mission of the Cooperative Extension is to help individuals, families, and communities put research-based knowledge to work to improve their lives. Our programs address local needs which are determined by advisory committees. Most of the programs provided by Cooperative Extension are available to the general public.
