Welcome to the Minutes of the Meetings of the Yancey County Board of County Commissioners

The Commissioners are pleased to provide this online service which now makes it possible for the public to have current and accurate information on all actions taken by the Board. Minutes are posted online after they have been approved by the board, as according to law. Minutes do not become the official record of the board's actions until they are formally approved.

Each meeting's minutes are identified in the section below by date and meeting type, and are listed in chronological order beginning with the most recent. Minutes are in PDF format and may be printed when opened. To assure full and accurate minutes are provided, in accordance with North Carolina General Statute 153A-42, and 143-318.10(e), the minutes record the full text of each motion made, including the full text of all ordinances and resolutions passed by the board, together with the vote of each board member present. The minutes also show the existence of any condition (such as a public hearing) required before a particular action may validly be taken. Statutes also specify that "full and accurate" minutes does not mean a verbatim transcript of proceedings, rather the recorded official actions taken by the Board of County Commissioners while in session.
