[ARCHIVED] Federal Shutdown Impact on SNAP

Federal Shutdown Impact on SNAP/Food & Nutrition Services

NCDHHS has been notified by the USDA that November Food & Nutrition Services ("food stamps") benefits may be disrupted if the federal shutdown continues. We are working to get a better understanding of exactly what that disruption will mean for North Carolina. It may mean that November FNS benefits may not be issued on your normal schedule for your usual benefit amount. We understand how important these benefits are. We will share updates as soon as federal guidance is issued. Benefits for October are not impacted and will be paid.

Please consider your balances as you make your purchases. In addition to resources listed on the NCDHHS website, Yancey County DSS maintains lists for food resources. If you have a need please reach out to the agency at (828) 682-6148 and we will try to connect you with a resource. Yancey County DSS will continue to monitor this situation closely.

For more information on FNS benefits and impacts from the federal shutdown you may also visit the NCDHHS’s website. You can check your balance in the ebtEDGE app or by calling the number on the back of your EBT card.
