Overview
The Yancey County Soil and Water Conservation District is a local subdivision of State government responsible for conserving soil, water, and related natural resources within the district.
The Yancey District consists of a Board of Supervisors with elected and appointed positions that establish policy, and promote conservation measures in schools and the general public. Additionally, staff provides assistance to landowners with their natural resources and representatives from the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), an agency of the U.S. Department of Agriculture which provides technical assistance.
